The collection includes a surveyor's notebook of survey work done in AuSable Township (Roscommon County, Mich.), by John Brink, L. Clasen, and William A. Burt, ca. 1838-1852. The notebook has been damaged by fire and is quite brittle and blackened. Also a photocopy of a letter, dated Oct. 2, 1839, from Burt in Mount Vernon (Mich.) to Elisha Duelle, Chief Clerk, Surveyor General's Office, Dubuque, Wisconsin Territory, concerning a contract for surveying towns north of the Wisconsin River.
